Duncraft Feeders Give Finches Something To Sing About

Winter has just turned in for the year and Spring is peeking out from behind the white fluffy clouds. The crisp blue sky shares its space with the sweet twitters of the dainty finches. Duncraft feeders, hung from the welcoming branches of the backyard beech tree, is sure to give those finches something to sing about.

The female finches are not the flashy kind. Their dull olive green feathers pale in comparison to the bright colors their men wear like a pitcher’s baseball cap and breastplate. Still, they both sing a flashy show tune, so encourage them to stay by setting up the best bird feeder for these fellows.

Finches are known to be finicky eaters. They are vegetarians who, in the wild, forage for food on the ground, or in trees. They like very dry seeds and nuts, but also eat fruit and buds. The favorite finch seed used in tube feeders is nyjer seed, which has a very dark, thin shell and is packed with calories and oil, providing the birds with great source of nutrients and energy.

A tube bird feeder is the perfect choice for finches. These are made in a wide variety of sizes and styles, but each of them have a built in baffle system that distributes the seed evenly inside the tube, so each bird will have access to seed, no matter where they perch.

The favored finch bird feeding tubes have a long, clear tube with small feeding ports spaced appropriately from top to bottom and around the circumference of the tube. At each port there is a small horizontal rod that provides a perching place for the finch while they feed. The Duncraft finch tube bird feeders are easy to refill, which is great, since the fussy finches need their food replaced about every three to four weeks.

Finches are a social bunch and they rarely travel without friends. In fact, if your feeder becomes known as the best on the block, they may invite twenty or thirty of their best buddies to dine with them. Duncraft feeders offer styles that can accommodate that party of twenty or more with no problem.

Hang these colorful Duncraft feeders apart from other bird food sources, since the bigger bird bullies will take their food and boss them around. Change their food at least every month and they will come back again and again, singing their little hearts out.
