One Of The Smallest Birds In The World: The Hummingbirds

A lot of people are interested in hummingbirds. You’ll be surprised at what they’ll do to see these charming creatures flit through their garden. Now the question is, “How do you lure Hummingbirds to your garden?

Learn these techniques so you can become closer to your favorite birds:

Feed Them

Fill your bird feeder with flower nectar and sugar water and they’ll fly right into your garden. If you can find some ants, slugs or spiders, they’d be partial to that too. They’d like hanging out on your bird house a lot better if they know that there will always be food available for the taking.

Find The Perfect Feeder

Red is the one color that is sure to attract Hummingbirds. Don’t worry if the feeder you have isn’t red, you can just repaint it with the right color or you can stick something red on top of it like a red ribbons. Hummingbirds would like your bird feeder more if it has perches where they can flit to and fro while feeding. Usually, you would see holes on your bird house so that the birds can slip in and out as they play, the holes were measured so as to let your little friends in and keep unwanted rodents out.

Avoid buying yellow feeders for your birds, it would draw in the wrong animals – bees and wasps which also feed on sweet nectar; too many insects would keep the birds away from the feeders. Your birdhouses should be maintained regularly, having insects inside makes your feeder less attractive to the birds.

Birdhouses: Wood or Glass?

Acrylic and glass are usually the materials used to make bird feeders and houses. You’ll see other bird feeders and houses made of wood and plastic, but not many use this because there’s a greater chance that the birds will be harmed if they get caught on the rough edges. There are a lot of houses and feeders to choose from, each coming in different sizes and shapes and some containing more than one feeding areas.

Hanging In The Right Area

Bird feeders should be placed outside, preferably a place accessible to birds like your garden. It’s a known fact that hummingbirds are very partial to flowers, so hang your bird feeder where flowers are abundant. It would be delightful to see the hummingbirds flitting to and fro your bird feeder, so put your birdhouse somewhere very visible. Wouldn’t it be nice to watch the birds from your veranda as you relax with a refreshing drink?

Purchasing The Feeder

Manufacturers have produced so many styles and designs that the prices tend to very a lot. If you would like to have at least an estimate, then it would be $10 – $50, depending on a lot of factors.
