Finch Feeders For Nature’s Jewels

Did you know that if you’re stressed watching birds actually lowers your stress levels? That’s one of the reasons why bird watching remains one of the top hobbies in the United States. If you want to make life more easy, and enjoyable, for yourself, it’s quite simple to attract finches and other social birds to your backyard with a few simple things. All you need are food, shelter, and water.

Finches are healthiest if their food and water is changed daily and it’s easy enough for the finch feeders to be filled with thistle seeds and other flower seeds, which are staples for finches. While they do like bread crumbs, some veterinarians don’t recommend them as a basic food since they’re not natural for the species.

The waterer should also be refilled daily and the little chirpers also appreciate a shallow dish filled with cool water to bathe in. Simple finch feeders can also be made of fruit like apple pieces and banana chunks skewered like a kabob and hung in the cage.

The little birdies are a great way to teach children responsibility, too. Just teach them to fill the water containers up fresh everyday and make sure the feeders are full of fresh seeds. The feeders are easily filled with seeds and other bird goodies and sunflower seed and peanut butter balls are an extra-special treat for the pretty chirpers. And if you set up a bird bath nearby, the show that ensues with the birds flying in to bathe is terrific. It’ll be a bird-watcher’s paradise for sure.

Choose handfed birds if you can, as these are not afraid of humans and can be let loose and actually be trained to come when called. If you prefer the bird not leave its cage at all, allow for one about two feet square at the least. They do need to stretch their wings. All in all, these beautiful little birds are among the best kinds of pets you can ever have.
